Biography
The Radio Knives, a boisterous power trio based in Boston, took their name from a little-known electronic instrument that employs sonic vibrations to slice and seal tissue. Their robust garage punk carries an undercurrent of hard-rock cockiness, shaped by the raw early singles of the Kinks as well as the ferocious drive of Detroit legends the MC5 and the Stooges. Performing at first under the moniker TV Eye, the musicians began playing local gigs in mid-2005. After drummer Daniel J. McCarthy exited once the band’s initial album was tracked, bassist/vocalist Alan A. Levesque and guitarist/vocalist Stephen A. Fay chose to reinvent themselves under a new banner. Paul Reynolds came aboard on drums, completing the lineup now known as the Radio Knives. The recordings originally made as TV Eye were issued as the group’s debut, Cursed, on Dionysus Records in the fall of 2006. The trio then toured in support of the LP and planned to enter the studio for a follow-up album in 2007.
