Biography
Guitarist Mel Bergman originated the Ramonetures, a project whose identity resists concise labels. Rooted in instrumental surf, the band carves its niche through "re-imagining" the catalogs of established acts as surf-rock instrumentals. Their debut translated this concept to the Ramones, an undertaking that supplied the group’s name, while the next album recasts material by X, the legendary Los Angeles punk pioneers. The first Ramonetures album remained a strictly in-house creation, yet Johny Walk Don't Run Paulene enlists X guitarist Billy Zoom and drummer D.J. Bonebrake.
