Biography
Although The Richmond Group never escaped the boundaries of Liverpool, the ensemble ranked among the most compelling live attractions in the city's post-Beatles second wave of 1963-64. Its lineup featured vocalists Dave Kerrigan and Eddie Cave, the latter previously the frontman of the Liverpool band The Fyx, together with lead guitarist Barry David, rhythm guitarist Barry Wheldon, bassist Howie Jones, and drummer Pete Taylor; nearly all were still in their mid-teens. Drawing clear inspiration from the Beatles, the musicians generated original songs, the bulk supplied by Kerrigan, Cave, and David, while their r&b sets were delivered with total urgency through taut, animated versions of Bo Diddley-style numbers that showcased particular flair.
