In spring 2000 the Riff Randells issued a self-titled 7-inch that introduced their punk-pop style, which drew from the Ramones, Joan Jet, and the Smugglers. Sean originally sang, Anne-Marie played drums and sang, Kathy handled guitar and vocals, and Stacy covered bass and vocals. After Sean departed for a Buddhist retreat, Kathy moved to lead vocals and the band continued as a trio. Mint Records released the group’s second EP, Who Said Girls Can't Rock!, before the year ended. Delmonico Records followed in 2001 with a self-titled CD EP that featured Justin on bass. The Riff Randells, already experienced on the road, completed a U.S. tour in 2002 and prepared an U.K. tour plus a single slated for 2003.
