Biography
Johnny Edwards, who had stood in briefly for Lou Gramm within Foreigner on the band’s 1991 album Unusual Heat, had previously played in King Kobra, the largely overlooked glam-metal project led by renowned drummer Carmine Appice. He subsequently put together the short-lived alt-funk band Royal Jelly, which earned a contract with Island Records after submitting an eight-track demo. Their self-titled debut, produced by Matt Wallace of Faith No More, surfaced in 1994; once the record vanished from view almost immediately, the group chose to disband.
