Biography
Indie rock outfit the Scourge of the Sea took shape during the winter of 2004 in Lexington, Kentucky, assembled from participants in several other local Kentucky ensembles. Justin Craig and Robby Cosenza, both ex-Pontius CoPilot and then-active with the Apparitions, joined forces with Andrew English to launch the project. Each of the three musicians performs on multiple instruments and contributes vocals. Following the release of a vinyl demonstration single on Paper Records that paired “My Sweet One” with “Out of the Trash,” the band signed with the recently revived and relocated independent label Alias Records and issued its debut album, Make Me Armored, on July 25, 2006.
