Biography
Formed in 2015, the Senior Service drew its personnel from the Medway garage beat scene that had steadily gained traction since the early 1980s. Jon Baker on organ, Graham Day on guitar, Darryl Hartley on bass, and Wolf Howard on drums arrived with prior credits in the Prisoners, Thee Mighty Caesars, Thee Masonics, James Taylor Quartet, and the Buff Medways.
Merging '60s thriller soundtrack textures with Medway mod, the quartet issued its first single, Depth Charge, through Damaged Goods, the established London punk and garage imprint, in January 2016. Six months later came the album The Girl in the Glass Case, on which the Hammond-led instrumental group extended its palette by incorporating trumpet, vibes, and Theremin across several tracks.
