The She Trinity originated in Canada when Shelly Gillespie, Sue Kirby and Robin Yorke assembled the lineup. After reaching London, England through New York, USA, the group incorporated Pauline Moran. The She Trinity stood apart from most female vocal ensembles of the period because its members performed on instruments. Columbia Records signed them in 1966, resulting in a forceful reinterpretation of the Bobby Fuller Four’s ‘I Fought The Law’ issued as ‘He Fought The Law’. Further singles such as ‘The Man Who Took The Valise Off The Floor Of Grand Central Station At Noon’ indicated strong potential, yet the decision to record ‘Yellow Submarine’ without awareness that the Beatles would release their own version as a single destroyed the band’s momentum. Sue Kirby’s departure brought Marion Hill into the fold, initiating a series of personnel shifts. Beryl Marsden spent a short time with the group after her involvement in Shotgun Express. Activity continued through the close of the decade, encompassing the 1967 release ‘Across The Street’ and the 1969 recording of ‘Hair’, after which the She Trinity disbanded.
