Biography
Eden Daniels, who had previously performed with Baby Flamehead, teamed up with Dave Bielanko of Marah to launch The Shimmers in 1995, creating a vehicle for the songs they had written together. Daniels took the role of lead vocalist as the group started recording a folk-rooted album that incorporated country-tinged Americana and rock textures, with violin overdubs supplied on multiple tracks by Jonathan Segel, once a member of Camper Van Beethoven. Work on the project stopped when Daniels and Bielanko’s personal relationship dissolved in the late ’90s. The recordings were finally revisited in 2004, when additional instrumentation and several new songs were added, leading to the 2006 release The Way You Shine.
