The Sound Of Urchin

In the early years of the new millennium, drummer Tomato 11—otherwise known as Chris Harfenist—launched Sound of Urchin by teaming with his acquaintance Barbie Smooth for a project on Steven Records. As an audience began to form around his efforts, Harfenist expanded the group by bringing in bassist Doo Doo Brown (Chris Huetz), guitarist B.lll (Bill Fowler), and guitarist Scotty Choc (Scott Heydt). The resulting comedy-rock approach resonated with fellow artists, opening doors to collaborations that included Dean Ween and Tenacious D. Their first full-length release, You Are the Best, appeared in 2002.
