The Space Cossacks

Early in 1996 saw the formation of The Space Cossacks, recognized as Washington, D.C.'s leading instrumental surf ensemble. Ivan "StratoCossack" Pongracic and Mark English handle guitar duties, with Catherine Gray on bass and Doug Hoekstra behind the drums. Following a couple of years spent performing along the East Coast, the combo issued their first full-length effort, Interstellar Stomp, via MuSick Recordings during April 1998. Tsar Wars, the follow-up from 2000, continues seamlessly from where Interstellar Stomp concluded; this enhanced CD edition of Interstellar Stomp incorporates a novella titled Tsar Wars authored by Jamie Miles and featuring artwork from Steve Blickenstaff.
