Burlington, Vermont-based Starline Rhythm Boys deliver a robust blend of traditional country, bluegrass, and old-school rock & roll. In November 2000 the outfit issued its first full-length effort, Better Luck Is a Barroom Away. Sean Mencher, known from the rockabilly outfit High Noon, handled production duties on a set that contained six original compositions penned by the group’s upright bassist Billy Bratcher, a musician who has shared stages with Wayne Hancock, plus additional original material drawn from writers such as Don Gibson, Johnny Paycheck, and Lattie Moore. No Depression, the alt-country publication, likened the recording’s inviting tone to the star-studded, tradition-focused Bradley Barn Sessions by George Jones. Danny Coane, who fronts the band on vocals and guitar, and guitarist/vocalist Al Lemery round out the current lineup.
