Biography
Performing glamorous indie pop shaped by the foremost classical guitar combustions of the late '70s, the Starlite Desperation also delivered the rawness characteristic of the heaviest garage rock squads. Their early distinction stemmed from the absence of a bass player, which produced flammable textures centered on a two-guitar spectacle. The group formed in 1995 in Monterey, CA, when guitarman and vocalist Dante Adrian-White joined forces with guitarist Dana Lacono and drummer Jeff Ehrenberg. After cultivating a devoted following across California’s club circuit for several years and issuing multiple singles through Gold Standard Labs Records, they unveiled their debut full-length album, Show You What, in 1998. Shortly afterward the band relocated to Detroit, at which point Lacono departed and bassist Yasmine Smith joined the lineup. Still operating as a trio but now augmented by Smith’s rhythmic command, the California-bred unit released its second album, Go Kill Mice, in 1999 on Flapping Jet Records. Show You What A Baby Won't followed two years later.
