Biography
Formed in Melbourne, Australia, the pop outfit the Steinbecks arose directly from the Sugargliders, a band that dissolved in October 1994 to make way for the new project. The five members—vocalist/guitarist Josh Meadows, his guitarist brother Joel, bassist Robert Cooper, drummer Bianca Lew, and guitarist/trumpeter Adam Dennis—had all either played in or been closely linked to the Sugargliders. While that earlier group issued only singles, the Steinbecks moved straight to a debut LP, releasing At Home and Abroad with the Steinbecks on the Summershine label in 1995; after repeated breakup rumors, they resurfaced in early 2000 with Recorded Music Saloon.
