Biography
The Steoples, a Los Angeles-based duo, push forward with richly layered avant-soul. GB and Yeofi Andoh, each a veteran of the underground with extensive independent histories, began collaborating intermittently under the Steoples name in the early 2010s. Their output for Stones Throw includes the 2017 album Six Rocks and the 2021 release Wide Through the Eyes of No One, both of which highlight Andoh’s earnest and resolute voice.
GB serves as the primary alias of Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker, also known as Gifted & Blessed, whose wide-ranging production work has appeared under additional monikers such as Frankie Reyes, the Abstract Eye, Julian Abelar, and the Reflektor. Yeofi Andoh, a producer originally from England who first gained recognition as A Race of Angels, contributed to the 2004 GB album Soundtrack for Sunrise. Eight years afterward, the pair introduced the Steoples via a self-titled EP on GB’s Gifted & Blessed imprint. They resumed the project with Six Rocks, which Stones Throw issued in August 2017. The label has since functioned as a fitting base, leading to the duo’s return in August 2021 with the more expansive second album Wide Through the Eyes of No One.
