The Stranger

In 1981 a melodic pop rock quartet assembled in Florida, USA, built around vocalist Greg Billings, guitarist Ronnie Garvin, bassist Tom Cardenas and drummer John Price. Once the lineup locked in, the group secured a deal with CBS Records the next year. Tom Werman, already noted for his productions with Ted Nugent and Mötley Crüe, shaped their debut album into a strong set of anthemic rock numbers driven by Garvin’s intense guitar lines. Though the record carried evident mainstream appeal, it made no commercial headway, and the band stayed out of sight until a follow-up appeared nine years afterward.
