Biography
Formed in 2007 during a studio session helmed by producer Colleen Fitzpatrick, better known as Vitamin C, the Stunners quickly secured a Columbia recording contract along with a Lionsgate-developed television project, all within half a year. Blending pop inspirations that range from Madonna and Gwen Stefani to Rihanna, the quintet departs from conventional girl-group conventions by performing live vocals and choreography while also handling live instrumentation, notably guitar and violin. The lineup consists of Tinashe Kachingwe, Allie Gonino, Hayley Kiyoko, Marisol Esparza, and Lauren Hudson, following the 2009 departure of Kelsey Sanders, who exited to focus on acting. Individual members have maintained parallel acting careers, with Kachingwe appearing on Two and a Half Men, Gonino on Ten Things I Hate About You, Esparza on Everybody Hates Chris, and Kiyoko featured in the film Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins. Amid these commitments the group issued its self-titled EP in October 2009, then promptly entered the studio for a debut full-length, enlisting songwriters Jimmy Harry and Sheppard Solomon plus No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal.
