Biography
Formed by four individuals who first crossed paths inside a Manhattan high school, indie rock band the Subjects counted teachers Dave Sheinkopf and Joe Smith among its ranks along with students Jimmy Carbonetti and Matt Iwanusa. Once the students finished their coursework, the group launched live appearances at bowling alleys and coffeehouses while simultaneously putting out a self-released EP during spring 2004. Their initial full-length album took shape in a Maryland basement throughout summer 2006, emerging as With the Ease Grace Precision and Cleverness of Human Beings on Pretty Activity Records in February 2007.
