Biography
Formed in Los Angeles during the opening months of 1990, the power-pop trio the Sugarplastic brought together singer and guitarist Ben Eshbach, bassist Kiara Geller, and drummer Josh Laner. The three musicians devoted more than eighteen months to rehearsals inside an appliance store operated by Laner’s father before they finally performed in public. Shortly afterward they cut several songs that appeared on their initial release, the 1993 box set of three singles titled Ottawa Bonesaw. Their first full-length album, Radio Jejune, came out two years later on the independent imprint Sugar Fix. In 1998 the group delivered its major-label debut for Geffen, Bang, the Earth Is Round.
