Biography
Guitarist and vocalist Jon Sanchez joined forces with pedal steel guitarist John Leon to form the Summer Wardrobe in Austin, Texas, during spring 2003, following earlier stage work alongside Abra Moore, Patrice Pike, and Billy Harvey. Drummer George Duron, whose résumé included tours with John Wesley Harding and Dumptruck, came aboard soon after the founding. In December 2005 bassist Marty Hobratschk stepped in to replace Zachary Firnhaber. The group’s first recording, the 38-minute, five-song EP Sometimes Late at Night, appeared on BMI Records in 2005. The following year the New York independent label Rainbow Quartz Records signed the band after its owner caught a showcase set at the South by Southwest festival. Rainbow Quartz then issued the self-titled debut album on January 23, 2007.
