Biography
Bill Doss, an ex-member of the Olivia Tremor Control, originated the Sunshine Fix as his own creative vehicle. Following OTC’s dissolution, the project positioned Doss as the melodic counterpart to Will Cullen Hart’s more avant-garde sensibilities, much as Paul McCartney had complemented John Lennon. While Hart channeled OTC’s experimental leanings into Circulatory System, the Sunshine Fix gravitated toward accessible pop songcraft, weaving in touches of country and soul on the debut EP A Future History of the Sunshine Fix. Drawing on fellow participants from Athens, Georgia’s thriving music community and the Elephant 6 collective, the band issued its first album, Age of the Sun, via Emperor Norton in 2002. A subsequent move to Spin Art yielded the follow-up full-length Green Imagination two years later. Bill Doss passed away in July 2012 at age 44.
