Biography
The Swan King, a Chicago-based trio, blend intense riffs drawing from progressive influences with vocals rooted in screamo, thereby updating the stylistic groundwork established during the 1990s by post-hardcore groups such as Drive Like Jehu and Slint through the addition of metallic elements. In 2009 guitarist and vocalist Dallas Thomas, previously of Asschapel and Circle of Animals, joined forces with bassist Jamie Drier from Planes Mistaken for Stars and drummer Zafar Musharraf to establish the group. Following the release of their raw demo Good Deeds, the band issued the eight-track album Eyes Like Knives in 2011, which was produced by Sanford Parker of Pelican.
