Biography
Formed as a rocksteady duo by Wentworth Vernal and Lloyd Parks, the Termites maintained only a brief presence in the scene. Their primary achievement arrived via the late-'60s single "Have Mercy Mr. Percy," which proved a major success, and they recorded just enough material to fill one album, Do the Rock Steady, almost entirely under producer Coxsone Dodd at Studio One. Wentworth Vernal later withdrew from the Jamaican music industry, whereas Lloyd Parks built an extended and widely admired trajectory as a bass player and singer, going on to establish his own group, We the People. The band earned its chief recognition by supporting Dennis Brown and numerous other reggae vocalists during international tours.
