Biography
The Motor City hard rock outfit Third Power took shape in 1969 under the leadership of singer/guitarist Drew Abbott, who would later become a fixture in Bob Seger's Silver Bullet Band. Bassist Jem Targal and drummer Jim Craig completed the lineup, which swiftly earned a devoted following on Detroit's club scene with its thunderous attack. Vanguard issued the group's LP Believe in 1970, yet commercial disappointment soon prompted the trio to disband. Abbott's subsequent work with Seger coincided with Targal's release of the solo album Lucky Guy. Jem Targal passed away on October 9, 2021, at age 74.
