Biography
Fiddler Lydia Garrison, from Trumansberg, New York's Turtle Island Dream, teamed with banjoist Leonard Podolak and guitarist Jordan McConnell of Winnipeg's Duhks to launch the TurtleDuhks side project in 2007 after extended jamming together at assorted folk festivals and fiddle camps. Their repertoire centers on old-timey and neo-traditional folk selections that highlight Garrison's expanding command of clawhammer banjo and occasionally shift toward Celtic terrain, positioning the group as an ideal complement to each member's main ensemble. The same year, the trio put out its debut album, True Lover, on Sugar Hill Records, the label also responsible for the Duhks' releases.
