Biography
The Vexers formed as a dark, arty punk combo featuring singer/guitarist Jennifer Taylor, guitarist Tres Warren, bassist Michael Hammel, and drummer Jesse Van Anglen. Taylor, Warren, and Hammel first crossed paths in Los Angeles in 2001 before relocating to south Philadelphia, where they refined their sound. Van Anglen joined them at these sessions, supplying not only the drum parts but also the band’s name. Their intense live performances attracted a growing audience that encompassed engineer/producer Mike Musmanno, who escorted the group into the studio to cut their self-titled full-length debut; Ace Fu issued the album in early 2003.
