Biography
Emerging as a standout act within the 1990s insurgent country scene, Atlanta's five-piece outfit the Vidalias took their moniker from Georgia's renowned onions. Their fusion of country, rockabilly, blues-infused rock, and sporadic swing elements produced a style reminiscent of the Flying Burrito Brothers' country-rock while occasionally evoking Asleep at the Wheel's Western swing. Fronted by Charles Walston, whose contributions spanned vocals, guitar, and songwriting, the ensemble featured Henry Bruns handling pedal steel guitar, Jim Johnson on bass, Page Waldrop on guitar, and drummer David Michaelson, formerly of the original Georgia Satellites.
