Biography
The Dallas, Texas-based Von Ehrics deliver fast, loud, and raunchy rock & roll shaped by the classic country that surrounded them during childhood as well as the punk rock and speed metal records they embraced as teenagers. Guitarist and lead singer Robert Jason Vandygriff and bassist Jeffery Wayne Mosley both came of age in a small Fannin County town, and the pair launched their band in 2000. That project became the original Von Ehrics lineup, which recorded a four-song demo the following year and issued it themselves as an EP. By 2003 the group had completed its debut full-length, Damn Fine Drunks, and begun a rigorous touring regimen that included frequent Dallas club dates alongside shows across the Southwest. Vandygriff and Mosley worked with a series of drummers over their first five years, prompting an exasperated Vandygriff to tell one reporter, "We've gone through five drummers in the past six months." Stability arrived in 2005 when San Antonio native Gabe Aguilar joined on drums. The independent Rocket 13 Records label put out the band's sophomore album, The Whiskey Sessions, in 2006; the release drew strong local coverage and encouraged the Von Ehrics to expand their circuit into the Midwest and East Coast in addition to their established routes. Repeated visits to Wisconsin caught the attention of Crustacean Records owners, who signed the group and brought them into the studio for Loaded, issued in spring 2009.
