Seattle garage punks the Whore Moans echo early Mudhoney through a post-emo lens, channeling the same bratty insolence, vintage Nuggets energy, early metal riffs, and deceptively poppy hooks that define their adolescent anthems. High-school friends from Tacoma, WA—singer and guitarist Nick Anderson, lead guitarist Jonny Henningson, and bassist Ryan Devlin (distinct from the television actor sharing his name)—relocated to Seattle and completed the lineup in 2005 by recruiting local drummer Jason Kilgor. Together they launched Wizard Rock as both a record label and an artistic collective anchored by a shared house in downtown Seattle, quickly building grassroots buzz via frequent local and regional shows while cutting their first LP alongside Seattle power pop veteran Johnny Sangster (the Posies, Mudhoney, Murder City Devils, etc.). The resulting album, Watch Out for This Thing, appeared on Wizard Rock in spring 2007.
