Biography
Hailing from southwest Georgia, Adam and Shannon Wright make up a husband-and-wife country duo. Raised in musically inclined households where Adam counted country star Alan Jackson as an uncle, each turned toward country music while still young. Their first encounter came in 1998 when Adam filled in on lead guitar for one of Shannon’s club dates as the featured singer in a cover band, after which the two began writing songs together almost at once and later married. A 2002 relocation to Nashville earned them an opening slot for Loretta Lynn at the Grand Ole Opry. The co-written “If Love Was a River” and Adam’s “Strong Enough” both appeared on Jackson’s 2004 album What I Do. Regular performances around Music City drew the notice of producers Keith Stegall and John Kelton, who recorded the couple and issued the resulting album Down This Road in 2005 on Jackson’s ACR label in partnership with RCA.
