Biography
London-based duo thenewno2—pronounced “the new number two”—pairs multi-instrumentalists Dhani Harrison, son of the late Beatle George Harrison, with Oliver Hecks. Their sound fuses the Fab Four’s late-period experimental pop, Brian Eno’s ambient electronics, and Massive Attack’s layered beats. The pair came together in 2006; the next year they issued their first EP, EP001, which included vocalist Amanda Butterworth. Their initial full-length album, You Are Here, followed in 2008. Two further releases appeared in quick succession: EP002 in 2011 and the 2012 album Thefearofmissingout, on which the project grew from a duo into a sextet.
