Biography
In 2004, math rockers from Oxford, England formed This Town Needs Guns through a spontaneous choice that gently mocked the scarcity of crime in their hometown. Guitarist and vocalist Stuart Smith joined forces with lead guitarist Tim Collis at the core, though the rhythm section cycled through multiple players across subsequent years until bassist Dan Adams and drummer Chris Collis locked in the lineup for the 2008 debut album Animals. Jamie Cooper soon assumed bass responsibilities, and in 2011 Stuart Smith publicly stated his exit to prioritize family commitments, with Pennines singer and guitarist Henry Tremain stepping forward as his replacement. Further personnel shifts persisted, leading the group to adopt the TTNG moniker in 2013 after prolonged misreadings of the original name as an earnest declaration, right after the January appearance of their second album, 13.0.0.0.0.
