Biography
The project known as Thornley centered on vocalist and guitarist Ian Thornley, formerly of the Boston alternative band Big Wreck, which enjoyed moderate success. Following Big Wreck's retirement in 2002, Ian Thornley headed back to his hometown of Toronto to focus on composing original songs. Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, an acquaintance dating back to the late 1990s modern rock scene, had recently launched his own imprint under Universal and quickly signed Thornley to the label. This led to recording sessions commencing in late 2003, involving producer Gavin Brown, known for his work with Three Days Grace, along with drummer Sekou Lumumba, bassist Ken Tizzard, and guitarist Tavis Stanley. The outcome was the album Come Again, issued in May 2004, which showcased a melodic post-grunge style infused with psychedelic elements and driven by Thornley's prominent vocals.
