Biography
Originating from the rugged mountain community of Idyllwild in Southern California, the rock trio Throw the Goat delivers a direct and bold style to its mix of punk and metal. The group assembled in 2012 with Michael Schnalzer on vocals and bass, Brian Parnell on guitar and vocals, and Tim Olivier on drums. They soon gained traction across the Southern California club circuit and issued their first album, Black Mountain, before the year ended. After the 2014 single “8 More Minutes,” the band released its sophomore effort, Blood, Sweat & Beers, in 2015 on the independent imprint Regurgitation Records. The EP Vote Goat followed in 2016 as the musicians kept mixing thrash, stoner metal, and classic punk without settling into a single lane. With Troy Whitford now occupying the drum seat, they completed their third album, The Joke’s on Us, for a January 2018 release.
