Biography
Thumbnail emerged in the alternative rock landscape through vibrant motifs, anchored by a robust rhythm section and memorable melodies, yet their run lasted under six years. The quartet first formed in late 1995, featuring Justin Sinkovich on guitar and vocals, Jason Morris also on guitar and vocals, Steve Schmidt on bass, and David Burns on drums. After inking their initial recording contract at the close of that year, the band reissued their debut self-titled album, Thumbnail, on the Cargo/Headhunter Records imprint during the middle of 1996. Their second full-length effort, Red Beat, followed later that same year under the Headhunter banner. The group eventually dissolved in the ensuing period, only for the Philadelphia-based File 13 label—co-founded by Burns—to unearth and issue That Static in 2001, an album tracked three years earlier. Buoyed by strong interest in the belated release, Thumbnail launched an extended touring cycle.
