Biography
Thy Serpent emerged among the scant Finnish black-metal acts that secured notice across the European underground. Sami Tenetz launched the project in 1996 on guitar and vocals, serving as its lone unchanging presence through repeated lineup shifts. The band cut two demos before landing an opportunity for a debut full-length, which appeared as Forest of Witchery on Spinefarm in 1996. Once the configuration stabilized with Tenetz joined by Agathon on synth and drums and Azhemin on synth, bass, and vocals, Thy Serpent reached an international audience in 1998 via Christcrusher, issued by Nuclear Blast America.
