Operating as Tiger Village, Cleveland musician Tim Thornton merges glitch-infused experimental electronics with free improvisation. Fractured clusters of manic rhythms and bright tonal bursts define his output, driven by an erratic momentum that never settles on a fixed trajectory. A sprawling network of samplers and synthesizers supplies the foundation, with percussion drawn from acoustic drums alongside everyday found objects. More than two dozen cassettes, CD-Rs, and digital releases have emerged since 2013 on imprints such as his own Suite 309, Orange Milk, and Hausu Mountain, the last of which issued Modern Drummer in 2019 and The Celebration in 2023.

Thornton has performed in multiple hardcore and indie rock groups, among them the post-rock ensemble Agnes High Quality and the duo Couples Skate Only formed with his wife Cari Thornton, while also recording under the additional solo names Les Cousins Dangereux and CDX. He holds the position of quality assurance specialist at Gotta Groove, the Cleveland vinyl record manufacturing plant and label. Four numerically titled Tiger Village cassettes appeared on Suite 309 in 2013. The following year brought Tiger Village V on Chicago’s Hausu Mountain, with VI: Effective Living arriving on the same label in 2016. Additional Suite 309 tapes flanked those albums, encompassing three EPs plus the 2015 double-cassette In Stereo, which collected drone-heavy improvisations. Patient Sounds Intl. released The Argument in 2018, Baked Tapes put out In Stereo II that year, and Orange Milk Records issued Tact. Hausu Mountain welcomed Tiger Village back for Modern Drummer in 2019.

Amblyopiac, an album addressing the vision problems Thornton has encountered across his lifetime, surfaced in 2020, while In Stereo III followed in 2021. The Celebration marked another return to Hausu Mountain in 2023.
