Biography
Emerging from the indie rock enclave of Olympia, WA, during 1997, the Tight Bro's From Way Back When show that seventies rock & roll can reach audiences dressed in sweaters and Buddy Holly glasses. Their nonstop barrage of power chords and cock rock riffs plants AC/DC sounds among listeners who might otherwise overlook them.
The lineup centers on vocalist Jared Warren, formerly of Fashio, Karp, and Witchypoo, plus guitarists John "Quitty" Quittner and Dave Harvey from Behead the Prophet, all committed to total sonic demolition. At first Warren played bass while Quittner and Harvey handled vocals, yet after only a couple of gigs Sean Kelly took over on bass and Warren stepped forward as frontperson. Two drummers later, Justin Olsen joined the fold.
The band's debut album, Runnin' Through My Bones, came out on Olympia's Kill Rock Stars imprint in 1999. Warren's Bon Scott-style vocals make AC/DC the clearest reference point, but the record pushes listeners to thrust their hands skyward and embrace songs that salute Kiss, AC/DC, and Alice Cooper while also nodding to Black Flag, the Stooges, and the MC5. Lend You a Hand arrived in 2001, supplying thirty-seven minutes of nonstop rock that summons images of mullets, El Caminos, and beer busts at the moon tower.
