Biography
Emerging during the 1960s British pop scene, Tim Andrews displayed notable versatility as a singer and guitarist while performing with multiple ensembles ahead of a brief solo phase. Originally billed as Chris Andrews, he took the role of the Artful Dodger in both the London and New York stagings of Lionel Bart’s Oliver, then made London his home in 1965. He next fronted the mod group the Gremlins and, in 1966, stepped in as vocalist for the Fleur De Lys after Frank Smith departed. Two years later, following his exit from the Fleur De Lys, he adopted the name Tim to avoid mix-ups with a similarly named singer-songwriter. Recording for Parlophone, he partnered with Paul Korda and issued several singles between 1969 and 1970, among them “Angel Face” and “How Many More Hearts Can Be Broken.”
