Biography
Tim Ryan, a country and western singer and songwriter, entered the world in 1964. His early years unfolded on a ranch near St. Ignatius, Montana, adjacent to the Flathead Indian Reservation. Ancestry within his household mirrors the nation's varied heritage through a blend of German, Flathead, French, Sioux, and French-Canadian lineage.
Civic roles marked family tradition, with his father holding the position of town mayor alongside a parallel pursuit of music. Instruction began at age four under that parent, guiding Ryan toward proficiency on drums, fiddle, and guitar. Those abilities later surfaced on releases by figures including Chris Isaak and Bruce Cockburn.
The solo debut On Purpose appeared in 1984 through Epic Records. Seasons of the Heart arrived next in 1991. Transitioning to the Warner Brothers imprint produced Idle Hands in 1993. A subsequent return to Epic yielded Tried, True & Tested. That effort enlisted guitarist Dan Dugmore, drummer Harry Stinson, bassist Glenn Worf, and Larry Franklin on fiddle and mandolin, plus a duet shared with country singer Dan Seals.
Tracks such as "Love on the Rocks," "Ease My Troubled Mind," "The Old Cowboy," and "Horse Thief Row" populate Ryan's recordings.
