Biography
Timothy Norton works as a bassist, composer, and educator while earning recognition as both a valued supporting player and a bandleader whose subtle style defines his contributions to post-bop jazz. His first outing as leader arrived with the 2022 album Visions of Phaedrus.
Originally from New England, Norton has maintained his residence in New York City from 2010 onward. He has collaborated with numerous sympathetic musicians such as Jason Palmer, Ralph Peterson, John McNeil, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Marianne Solivan, and additional artists. Outside his performance schedule, he holds a teaching position on the faculty at Jazz at Lincoln Center. The same year, 2022, marked his initial release fronting a band on Visions of Phaedrus, which presented his ensemble featuring trumpeter Josh Evans, saxophonist Jerome Sabbagh, guitarist Leandro Pellegrino, pianist Randy Ingram, and drummer Kush Abadey.
