Biography
Musician and artist Titanic Sinclair launched his career playing garage rock before gaining wider notice as an early producer for acts including BØRNS, Zella Day, Stepdad, Mars Argo, Poppy, and Knox Hamilton. Drawing from ’90s indie rock, he issued the solo albums Thick Jello (2012) and I Have Teeth (2014) prior to shifting focus toward those other projects. He resumed solo work in 2020 with the single “Broken Boy” b/w “Viral Kind of Love,” then followed with further tracks that led to the countrified Texas Dream LP in 2021 and the holiday EP Christmas Singalong later that same year. His 2022 releases continued the eclectic path, beginning with the singles “I Want to Fuck You,” “It’s a Boy,” and “Your Horoscope.”
Born Corey Michael Mixter in Saginaw, Michigan, Sinclair brought his skills as director, performance and visual artist, and singer/songwriter to Los Angeles. Shaped by Elliott Smith, Pixies, and Weezer, he put out the same two early solo albums along with the 2015 singles “Trust Fund” and “Fucking on Fire.” He then turned to collaborations with BØRNS, Zella Day, Stepdad, Mars Argo, and Knox Hamilton before teaming with Poppy as her director and producer. Their first joint release, an enigmatic clip of Poppy eating cotton candy, appeared online in late 2014. Taking cues from Warhol, David Lynch, and Tim Burton, the duo generated a continuing series of unsettling and ambiguous videos. Poppy’s debut LP, Poppy.Computer, produced by Sinclair alongside Ryosuke Sakai, arrived in 2017; the pair ended their partnership in 2019.
