Biography
John Davis, having served as drummer in Q and Not U while also forming one half of the indie pop act Georgie James, shifted focus toward infectious power pop modeled on the Nerves, the Mice, and Any Trouble. He started Title Tracks in 2008, shortly before Georgie James disbanded. The group’s original lineup—Michael Cotterman on bass, Meredith Munoz on guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals, plus Andrew Black on drums—cut the 2009 Dischord single “Every Little Bit Hurts”/“Found Out.” Davis performed every part himself on the debut album It Was Easy, issued in early 2010 by Ernest Jenning Record Co. For the 2011 follow-up In Blank he tracked with his road band, still anchored by Cotterman and Black; Elmer Sharp later replaced Black for live dates. After a period away that included Davis reuniting with fellow Q and Not U alumnus Chris Richards in the folky duo Paint Branch, along with assorted life changes for all three members, Title Tracks resurfaced in 2016 with the album Long Dream. Released that November on Ernest Jenning, the record featured songs written entirely by Davis and performances by Cotterman, Sharp, and longtime producer Nick Anderson.
