Biography
Toby Beau, fronted by singer Balde Silva, gained recognition primarily through their soft-rock smash "My Angel Baby" from 1978. Silva assembled the Texas-based ensemble alongside guitarists Danny McKenna and Ron Ross, along with bassist Steve Zipper and drummer Rob Young. The band's debut album, released by RCA that same year, featured the track that reached the pinnacle of the easy-listening rankings while narrowly missing the pop Top Ten. Follow-up effort More than a Love Song in 1979 could not match that achievement, and the 1980 release If You Believe led to the group being let go from the label. Nevertheless, Silva continued to guide Toby Beau through performances on the Texas club scene over subsequent years.
