Biography
Collier first demonstrated his command of multiple percussion instruments with an appearance at age 13 on The Lawrence Welk Show. Brubeck’s music awakened his fascination with jazz and irregular meters. After settling in Los Angeles in 1974 he worked with Ernie Watts, Bill Holman, Shelly Manne, Howard Roberts, Bobby Shew, and Don Ellis. He joined the faculty at the University of Washington in 1980 and has since issued several albums as a leader.
