Biography
Multi-instrumentalist Tom Rozum blends traditional bluegrass and old-time music with Western swing, having formerly belonged to the Grant Street String Band while regularly appearing on singer Laurie Lewis's solo recordings. Born in New England, Rozum resided in Arizona before relocating to California. In San Diego he performed with the swing band the Rhythm Rascals, and after moving to Berkeley he worked with the traditional-music groups Summerdog and Flying South. He entered the Grant Street String Band in 1986 and there encountered vocalist Laurie Lewis; Rozum supplied mandolin, mandola, fiddle, and guitar to numerous Lewis solo releases, and their 1996 duet album The Oak and the Laurel received a Grammy nomination. Rozum issued his solo debut, Jubilee, in 1998.
