Biography
Michael Brenneis, founder and drummer of the experimental jazz quartet Tomato Box, assembled the ensemble in 1999. Boston-born, Brenneis acquired his drumming skills from renowned jazz drummer Alan Dawson and later recorded with Benny Weinbeck, Teodross Avery, Doug Little of the Motion Poets, Kelly DeHaven, Hanah Jon Taylor, the Moon Gypsies, the Ed Anders Quartet, and the Erica Mather Trio. Anders Svanoe (clarinet, alto, bari), Geoff Brady (marimba, percussion), and Henry Boehm (bass) complete the Tomato Box roster. The quartet released its debut album, Let's Hear It, in 2001 on Rattle Tick Buzz Records.
