Born on April 12, 1988, in Sogndal, Norway, Tone Damli Aaberge built her career as a Norwegian pop singer after first attracting notice through the 2005 edition of Idol: Jakten På En Superstjerne. She lives in Oslo and draws inspiration from Jeff Buckley, Radka Toneff, Joni Mitchell, Sidsel Endresen, and Norah Jones. Finishing as runner-up in the competition’s third season, she was bested by Jorun Stiansen in the final. The exposure led to a major-label contract with EMI, under which she issued her debut single “The Bliss Song” later that year; the track anchored the English-language album Bliss, which reached number 14 on the Norwegian albums chart, followed by the single “Somewhere Soft to Land.” In 2006 she placed third on the second season of Dancing with the Stars. Her next album, Sweet Fever, appeared in 2007, climbed into the Top Ten, and yielded the Top Ten hit “Fever” plus “Young and Foolish.” Momentum continued with I Know in 2009, which peaked at number three and produced the Top Five singles “Butterflies” and “I Know.” That year she also finished second in Norway’s Eurovision Song Contest national final with “Butterflies,” behind Alexander Rybak.
