Biography
Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, British keyboardist and vocalist Tony Ashton first attracted attention by stepping in for Don Andrews within The Remo Four, a Mersey Beat outfit from Liverpool. The group contributed to the soundtrack of George Harrison’s Wonderwall, after which Ashton and drummer Roy Dyke departed to establish Ashton, Gardner & Dyke in 1968; three years later the trio achieved success with the single “Resurrection Shuffle,” only to disband in 1972. Ashton spent the following year with Family before becoming a founding member of Paice, Ashton And Lord in 1976, after which he shifted his focus to production work.
