Biography

Having picked up the guitar at age six in his native Oklahoma, Tony Romanello began performing with bands while still in his early teens. During college he launched the indie rock group Murmur, which earned warm local acclaim. Once Murmur dissolved in 1999, he compiled songs for a first solo project and secured a contract with Engine Records. The Mumble Odd appeared in spring 2000, by which point Romanello was already drawing comparisons to singer/songwriters Jeff Buckley, Jeremy Enigk, and Brian Wilson. Three years later Counting Stars arrived, his second collection of airy, infectious pop music.
